As we walked through the methodology it sounded curiously familiar to the Enterprise Analysis chapter in the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BA BOK). The interesting part is that regardless of what you call the activities, every organization should be doing them and have people proficient in doing them.
The six sigma continuous improvement methodology follows the DMAIC approach which involves:

Define
Measure
Analyze
Improve
Control

*** 5 stars (beyond my expectation)

I expected myself to fall asleep, thinking it must be one of the those Lord-of-The-Rings kind of movies.

Surprisingly, it turned out to be a marvel story and it’s quite nice and I loved it.

1) Reduce weight – From current 70kg to 65kg
Achievable. I have 7 months to reduce 5 kg.
Strategy is :-
- take breakfast
- no rice
- no portion more than just 1 Small

2) Save money – at least 5k
Achievable. 7 months, 1k per month, starting April.
Strategy is:-
- no spending anymore!
- adjust the allocation wisely

3) Take good pictures – with my DSLR
Not sure if this is achievable. Important but maybe not urgent.
Has to get a good wide angle lens but the price is like… RM2k++.
Strategy:-
- enroll in some photography classes

There are several key points one needs to understand before deciding whether or not to become a business analyst. You may be qualified to do the job you were hired to do. Yet is it the job you wanted to do? Some analysts find themselves locked in a cubical writing reports all day, only to find the report was not used or even read. They realize they are in a dead end job going no-where fast. This is not the usual dream one has when becoming a business analyst.

A good business analyst is creative, a people person. Someone wanting a more hands on approach to business and problem solving. The good business analyst will look for opportunities to grow and learn. He or she will listen attentively to what others are saying. The good business analyst is like a walking encyclopedia about the company he or she works within. They will know people from every department.

‘You’ve got to find what you love,’ Jobs says

This is a prepared text of the Commencement address delivered by Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios, on June 12, 2005.

I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I’ve ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That’s it. No big deal. Just three stories.

The first story is about connecting the dots.

I dropped out of Reed College after the first 6 months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?

It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed college graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife. Except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl. So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking: “We have an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?” They said: “Of course.” My biological mother later found out that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would someday go to college.

Am I overboard with this trying to be friendly intro?

Hi Jobstreetors,

I am Elaine Ong Lea Szu, please call me Elaine. I am married with a baby of 5 months old. That’s why the biggest challenge working in JS is to wake up at 7am, after a tiring night taking care of that little monster.  I came by LRT and I must have my every morning coffee to stay awake.

I speak excellently fluent Cantonese, ok ok English, out of tune Mandarin, good Hakka and teruk Malay.

I used to work as a PHP developer, ranging from travel, ecommerce, multi-level marketing to ERP related software house. I read PHP codes more than newspaper, but unfortunately no ASP experience. My role in JS will be as a business analyst and I am so looking forward to this challenge.

Please add me to YM at elaine.ongleaszu@yahoo.com or MSN ongkichilam@hotmail.com or gtalk at ongkichilam@gmail.com

I am a very easy-going, conceptual, and spontaneous kind of people. If you are familiar with the Myers Briggs personality analysis, I am the ENFP type, which you can read in detail here http://www.personalitypage.com/ENFP.html. Pretty much described most of me, especially this lines, (ahem)

ENFPs are warm, enthusiastic people, typically very bright and full of potential. They live in the world of possibilities, and can become very passionate and excited about things. Their enthusiasm lends them the ability to inspire and motivate others, more so than we see in other types. They can talk their way in or out of anything. They love life, seeing it as a special gift, and strive to make the most out of it.

Business and systems analysts (BAs and SAs) fill an interesting role in IT organizations: They straddle the gap between the users and the IT department, taking an active role in the development of IT solutions without performing much of the hands-on work of the users or the IT team. BAs and SAs often catch a lot of heat from the IT department for “not knowing what we do,” and users often point the finger at them when the IT department’s solution is well executed but does not meet their needs.

Navigating this interaction between IT and users can be a huge challenge for BAs and SAs. But hiring someone to fill that job can be equally challenging. While technical know-how and experience are a big help, it can be difficult to determine what will be useful for the job and what won’t. The same can be said for understanding the business end of things. Here are 10 tips and interview ideas to help you pick the best BA or SA candidate for the job.

I enjoyed the evening so much seeing another good friend of mine getting married, with a guy who seems to be truly her other half during Adam and Eve’s era.

Their jump of joys!

If they are the male and female version of each others, we are the Yin and Yang!

Dress: Phenomenal, RM 170++
Accessories: Earrings, Necklace, Price unknown, bought N years ago
Hair Do: RM 25, Ipoh Salon
Make Up: RM 40, Ipoh Salon

Do I look like a model for a “just-gave-birth-excuse-to-eat-a-lot-became-very-fat-and-people-thought-already-pregnant-with-second-baby” kind of lao cha poh???

Papa, the poor husband of the lao cha poh
