Last Day @ Skali – changing job again

Yes, I am changing job again. Not that the company is not good, just that, the R&D team is changed and my job role is not something up to my expectation too.

Since IV left, the team has lost its direction and management didn’t take quick and solid action to it. I am kinda dissapointed with this.

The first two weeks in Skali was good, did a lot of studies and learnt a lot too. But without IV presence, I feel demotivated, boring and lost of interest in the company. But of course, AFU has been a nice manager too, bringing us to KWSP and see the real project implementation but I am only an outsider but not the executor…

Basically, every morning, once I reached the office, turned on my notebook, the first thing I do is to capture my snapshot with my notebook built in webcam :D

See my expression and you’ll know I am really boring…Thats the small part of my life here in Skali, 2nd April- 31st May 2007.

Having problem with myself, family, career….is there anymore?

I finally can feel that, the people who keep struggling with life’s hassle is so much more braver than people who choose to leave…

Check Windows Port

Something was listening on Port 80 and preventing my local webserver from working on my Windows XP laptop. Here’s how I tracked it down: Hit Windows Key + R, which brings up the Run dialog, then type cmd and press enter. You’ll be on a command line.

Type netstat -a -o -n and itll bring up a network list, I looked for one with 0.0.0.0:80 as the local address and noted down the PID of 2600. To find out what PID 2600 was (hopefully not a trojan) I typed tasklist /FI "PID eq 2600" which means show me a tasklist, and filter (/FI) where the PID (process ID) is equal to 2600. This told me that it was Skype.exe that was running something on port 80 locally.

Finally I killed it using taskkill /PID 2600 and Skype was gone and I was able to start up my web server locally and do a little bit of offline coding. Windows actually has a pretty handy command line once you learn your way around it, its just the syntax is so inelegant to me after spending all day on Linux terminals. A final tip, you can type /? after most Windows commands to get the equivilent of a man page for that command.

Doing something for nothing

No idea. I have no idea why did I do that.

It just serves no purpose. I am not hoping to let the whole world know about it.

I am not hoping ppl will pity on me. I just didn’t think much.

Open Source vs Write-My-Own

Just upgraded the site from wordpress2.1 to wordpress2.2.

Everything works so well, I am really impressed with how easy and convenient to do the upgrade.

At the same time, I put my highest salute to the wordpress developers, no wonder CNET would like to interview its founder.

There is someone out there who despised me for using *others* code, but I think this kind of person is the stupiest, because they never appreciate the spirit of open source. :D

Chilam, my most popular actor

CRIENGLISH.com

Hong Kong actor Julian Cheung Chilam arrives at the Seventh Lily Awards in Beijing on Saturday, May 12, 2007. He was named the most popular actor.
A-list stars stole the winners’ thunder as they appeared at the Lily Awards ceremony on Saturday in Beijing.

This year was the seventh Lily Awards, which is organized by China Central Television’s movie channel (CCTV-6) to honor outstanding contributors to the country’s digital film industry, in particular the films made for TV.

…. Hong Kong actor Julian Cheung Chilam was named the most popular actor at the ceremony. His portrayal of “Lu Xiao Feng” gained widespread popularity when it was aired on CCTV-6 earlier this year.

…. Despite this, the ceremony was still eye-catching, as directors including Stanley Tong and Lu Chuan, and starlets including Zhao Wei and Fan Bingbing, showed up one after another.

Finally…his hardwork paid off!

What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger….

Not doing too well recently, specifically last Friday to …. now maybe?

Stupid thoughts floating around mind. Friends listen and give advise.

Nothing I can do, and nothing I SHOULD do.

Just stay calm, relax and be positive.
